Default E Mail Management between Laptop & BB

Please Login to Remove!

I am a new user to BB & my use BIS for receiving my emails. Presently i get my mails both in my laptop & BB. While at work i keep the BB connected to my laptop and would not want BB to receive any any emails as i am already getting them in my laptop. What i would like to know is how to stop receiving emails in BB phone when it is connected to my laptop and my outlook is running and to automatically get the emails when the BB phone is not connected to my laptop.

There is not a real easy or surefire way to do this that I am aware of.

You could turn off data services on the BB but then when you turn that back on, all mail will be delivered anyway.

About the only way to ensure that your laptop/PC email client gets the mail and the BB doesn't is to go into advanced settings of your email client and deselect leave mail on server for each email account. So whenever your PC is on and the email client is running, mail will be downloaded to the PC and then deleted from your email server. You must close the email client to get mail to the BB. That would get most of it. Not sure how workable that is because if you forget it once you will probably not be a happy camper without mail.

IIRC you can block BIS via the BB's firewall to temporarily stop email delivery (without queuing). I don't use BIS so I can't really confirm this first hand.

Even if you block it, all mail will be sent once you unblock so it really doesn't solve the problem

That is correct. There's really no good way to do this. If frequently turning email delivery off and on then is critical then you're better off with a pull email device.

On BES if you have Desktop Manager installed there's a checkbox to disable email redirection when the BB is connected via USB but there's no such option for BIS.
