I just call Nextel support and they did not have a clue on this question. Can this phone be used in the United Kingdom? Need to be able to receive/make phones call back to the US. I am currently a US customer but need to go to the UK for three months for work.

No, it can't be used there. There's no iDen network in the UK.

Nope they could not. All I got was it might work there but can't say for sure. Unbelievable !

iDEN is available in other countries through several carriers including Nextel International. Nextel International allows direct connect (PTT operation) between users in several countries including United States, Argentina, Chile, Mexico and Canada.

Countries which have operating iDEN networks not currently connected with the US include: Jordan, Israel, Singapore, Korea, Saudi Arabia, Japan, El Salvadore and China (selected areas)


You'd think Nextel would know that... unless they have a secret UK iDen network that they're not making very public.

I remember like 6 months ago or longer Nextel was hiring in the UK. I expected them to start service there by now, but maybe it was for something else. I would love for them to have an iDen network there as well!!
