Well, yes, if you go to mobile.blackberry.com and click on the Instant Messaging Link, the site will scan your BlackBerry and determine what IM clients are available for your device and provider.

If you want the direct OTA/IE Web Install link, it's:
http://www.blackberry.com/devicesoft....do?code=wlm20

Wirelessly posted (BB 8330)

You need to go to the site on your bb not the pc.

Go to your Browser options - Browser Configuration, make sure all checkboxes are checked, and set the Emulation Mode to BlackBerry (you probably have it set to IE).

I get to the windows live messenger screen

says Passsword:

can't click anywhere near it

then says click the yellow bar and choose activex control to allow installation to proceed

then there's a blue progress bar that sits at 0%

then there are 5 button

Next
Retry
Next
Retry
Next

i have all the checkboxes ticked in broswer config and
Emulation mode was already set to blackberry

I had this same problem, I called AT&T this is what they told me and help me get an IM that works with AIM, MSN, and Yahoo.

go down to your media browser (media Network icon on the bb 8310)
go down to mail and messaging go down to mobile IM, click on it
its called OZ messaging it works awesome... didnt mess with my blackberry at all..

again
media browser/mail and messaging/mobile IM then download login

sometime i find that i have to refresh my contact list after login but no big deal... and its FREE

Well aside from disagreeing (I think OZ is a KRAPPY client), you should be aware that OZ does NOT user your BlackBerry Data Connection which you've already paid for, but rather it uses SMS! EVERY MESSAGE (up to 160 characters - maybe less) is charged as an SMS message - $0.15 each if you're not on a plan or go over!

Now this isn't a problem if you plan to spend the $5-$10 on top of your BlackBerry Data Plan anyway, but you're already shelling out at least $30 for the BlackBerry Data Service, and there are several FREE IM clients that allow you to connect to ALL the major IM networks with one program, and use your Data connection. Some of the paid IM clients (Jive Talk and IM+) even allow you to have multiple connections to the same network.

Be careful - without an unlimited SMS plan you can spend a LOT of money just chatting...

Jerry D, which free programmes would you recommend, I have a Pearl 8120 and I'd love to combine Gtalk and MSN ideally
