Default MP3 causes reboot

Please Login to Remove!

Blackberry Curve 8310
v4.2.2.184

Once the playback started, there is no way out of the reboot, whether I try to you stop/pause playback, hit delete/next, or let it play to the end.

The OS will reboot.

Has anyone seen similar problems?

Thanks!

Is it one certain mp3 file that does it, or any?

Is the mp3 loaded on the Media Card or the device memory?

Several file (not all) can cause reboot. They are on media card. They are generated by LAME using foobar2000

Try another file converter. I've never used lame and foobar, never heard of them. Perhaps that application is creating a bad mp3 IF that is the common denominator between the failed mp3 files which are causing the reboot.

I don't think it's the converted. It has happened to other ones, incl. WMP, Nero and others. However, this is the one that would crash after playback finishes.

If I can upload the file, can anyone test it?

If you don't think it is that file, there is no reason to test it.

I've found the problem. The silence trimmer I used is causing the mp3 header to be corrupted. This can be fixed easily in foobar2000.

However, I do think an OS should not crash in this case. I wonder if there is a place to submit such bug to Blackberry.

Here is the 10sec mp3 file.

**** warning ****

bbcrash.mp3 can cause reboot. Once playback starts, there is no way out

bbcrash-fixed.mp3 has VBR header fixed so it should not cause reboot.

Please let me know if it's fixed in OS 4.5. I am running 4.2

Thanks!
