This is probably carrier related, but i cant figure it out.. im on att and have an option to send voicemail to another destination.. i enter the number i wish to send the voicemail to and it says invalid number. is there anyway to send a voicemail you received to someone else so they can listen to it??

On the same network - yes. Not across different carriers.

Yeah it wont work if you try to send it to someone on a different network

Voicemail is completely carrier-specific. It's not something that runs off your BB.

It's even likely that one carrier has an entirely different voicemail system from another.
