Does my Blackberry need a blackberry address
 

Hello peeps,

Just wanted to know if i require a blackberry email address to have the blackberry service.

I live in new jersey and use on Verizon service.

I have my home email, and work email that i use on the blackberry 8830

so i can email or txt from these worlds i assume.

Just wanted to know if blackberry requires that i have a blackberry address to have all the blackberry services.

eg. assuming i dont have a bb email,
would i still have access to blackberry messenger?
would i still have access to txt and pin messages.

please advise thanks

It is not required that you have a address... as a matter fact, it is not even a good address to have, as if it gets spammed there are no filters for it, cannot be viewed on a PC, etc.

You will still have access to BBMessenger, PIN and text messages.

Not required at all. It's handy for situations where you cannot integrate an email account with BIS via the normal methods (POP, IMAP, OWA, etc) but you can forward the mail. Unless you think you need it I wouldn't even bother with it. You can always set it up later if the need does arise.
