My new curve got wet and now it will power up but the keyboard and the trackball don't work anymore. Would this be a issue with one of the boards or would it just be a failure in the keyboard and the trackball because I can replace those. I have the unit apart and cosmetically it looks fine. When it first fired back up the trackball would move around no problem but clicking it did nothing. It worked a couple of times and the keyboard worked mostly although some of the keys were screwing up with giving the wrong characters or 2 characters instead of one. Now the trackball and the keyboard don't seem to work at all.

Just curious if anyone is technical enough out there to tell me if this would have screwed up the main board or is it worth replacing the individual components?

How long did you allow the device to dry with the battery out? It can take several days for the device to completely dry out. If it was only a day or 2, I'd give it another day or 2.

Make sure it's in a warm dry place. I put mine next to a floor vent and it dried out beautifully (my Pearl, not my Curve).

Thanks for the welcome and I hear you...It has actually been 2 weeks and it is completely dry now. I used the leave it out in the sun and the hairdryer. There isn't a bit of moisture left in there that I can see (and its completely apart, right down to the circuit board. This is as good as its going to get. I do have a buddy with one and contemplated taking his apart and stealing some parts to try, but I don't want to ruin his given mine is alreay useless and I am back to using my 8703...

For the record, i have been reading posts on liquid damage and waiting sufficient time for this to dry, etc. since this happened. I used a good youtube posting to help me take it apart tonight, which I was amazed how easy it was to do. Now I just want to know if its more commonly not the peripheral parts and is most likely the main board thats no good and I am just wasting my time. I was told my a repair facility in Toronto on the phone that its an 80% non-fixable rate with liquid damage. They are saying you fix one thing and then the next thing goes a couple of weeks later. I am hopeful still because it comes on and it did function a couple times after the water damage and even the camera worked.
