If it's just folder icons you want then 4.5.0.69 will add these back. It's not released yet but...hopefully soon.

Folder Icons -
09-04-2008, 12:28 PM
I have deleted the Media file (again) and I will (patiently) wait for 4.5.0.69 to get the folders icons back.
Thanks for the info.

I'm not sure why the files above wouldn't work for you, though.

Not sure either. Since I upgraded to 4.5.0.55 (rel 81) I have not had any significant problems. The only issues I have had are: 1) DM 4.5 & 4.6 trying to update - 4.5 Core Apps, Basque language and Password keeper every time I connect to DM, 2) the Device Switch Wizard (I use this to back up my 3rd party apps) does not see any 3rd party apps installed prior to 3 weeks ago and 3) the folders icons are missing even after loading the media file.

Finish the loader process all the way and it should stop asking you about the upgrade.

Tried that a couple of times but it still comes back. I saw a thread a while back where it was a known issue, so I just searched again and found an update with the fix. After following the instructions to delete some xx_eu.cod files in the OS folder, problem resolved.
So I am down to the 3rd party apps backup and the folders icon.
I wonder if the folders icon had anything to do with a 4.2 theme (BB Today Plus) that I installed and then deleted.

Even after upgrade I have realised that the device memory limit is set to 5MB. This sometimes causes the device to hang often especially when you have numerous 3rd party apps. Can this be changed before upgrade?

Hi !
I upgraded my BB with the new OS 4.5.0.69, and preloaded pictures are missing.
I follow the instruction of John by downloading the ZIP file.
But when I try to send the ALX file in my BB, a message say that nothing is available for my model of Terminal !
Of course I downloaded the 81xx file for my 8100 pearl !
What the problem ?
Thanks at lot for your help...
Mike

Well.. I put it on my BB, then I went to options/advanced options/ Apps and saw net_rim_bb_medialoader...
But where do I view them? I went to media/pictures/preloaded and they didn't show up..

They are simple alx/cod type installation file and Desktop Manager is required to load them.
Simply unzip the files into a folder somewhere you won't delete them. Then use the "Add" or "Browse" feature in Application Loader and browse to the .alx file. It should add the medialoader.cod to the application loader. Click on Finish to load the files to the BB.

More wallpapers? -
10-25-2008, 12:52 AM
Hi I did everything it said and it shows on my applications and I do have original pictures but I'm unsure does this file have the pictures like the Mediterranean, Frog, Pathway etc? Because I know that my friends curves have those pictures. I'm on a 8830 as well. Thanks

I downloaded the zip for the 83xx version and extracted 2 files. The .alx loaded just fine witht he desktop apploader. The .cod file will not load. It doesn't automatically show up in my 'Device application selection' but when I go to 'Browse...' and select the file...Error Message: "No additional applications designed for your device were found." *gao_dazhi* had the same problem but figured it out. Still don't know what you meant on how you fixed it.

Missing Preloaded Wallpapers -
11-27-2008, 09:37 PM
I am a relatively new BB owner, and after 4 months my curve inexplicably froze on that annoying loading screen with the hourglass for over 12 hours. I was sent a "new" (read: refurbished) phone, only to discover that all of the preloaded pictures are missing. I have tried downloading the files listed here, but after multiple battery pulls I still do not see them. I can see net_rim_bb_medialoader_320x240_b in Applications, but not the pictures in media>pictures>preloaded pictures. Any other suggestions? Is it because my OS is 4.2 and this app is 4.5? I would appreciate any response, as I am not yet BB savvy.

I could be wrong but I believe the Blackberry Mobile website now has the wallpapers under the wallpaper section. At least they look like what use to be preloaded before I updated, I never used them.
But anyway now you wouldn't have to do this, just grab the ones you want and save them to your SD

Does anyone have the walpaper for 320x240 screens that looks like a jungle with a foot bridge? That's the only one I want, and can't seem to find a plain image of it anywhere.

Please Help.... -
12-18-2008, 02:08 PM
I'm one of those wierdos who really feel it necessary to have the BB's preloaded pictures...My world won't be right until i have them back...I updated my BB and lost them and have tried the technique listed above to regain them...I'm not hugely computer literate, but was able to follow the steps listed above through the Application Loader of BB Desktop...at the end I "Finish" to complete process as described...Are the pictures supposed to back under the "Preloaded Pictures?" I can't seem to find them on my phone...Please Help....

After loading the files, take the battery out and do a hard reboot. I had the same issue you did (could not find the newly loaded pictures under Preloaded Pictures), after the reboot, everything was there.

Fixed Pics But Lost Facebook...Anyone in the Know? -
12-18-2008, 10:18 PM
I used the information in this thread to reaquire the lost wallpapers for my BB...It ended up working great once i got the right file unzipped (originally used the file for the pearl instead of the curve) realized my mistake so i went back to the application wizard and removed it and installed the correct one...Now here is where i'm not sure what happened? I think i may have left facebook checked while i uninstalled the 8100 file...now the only option next to facebook is "none" or "uninstall"...yet i no longer have on my phone? Anyone know what i may have done, how to install it again, or where to look for answers?
