Default Data Connection Refused - o2 (uk)

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, i am new to the forums, i came by it by searchign for a answer to my questions about my bb8700g.

i have it on o2 pay as you go UK, the phone and messaging work fine. but i cannot get any data sent to it so i am able to go online, i dont even need a email account set to it so i have instant email. i am just wanting it for general internet on the go.

by looking on the net i have found these settings

O2 (UK)
Gateway IP: 192.113.200.195
Port: 9201
APN: wap.o2.co.uk
username: o2wap
password: password

but i do not even know where the options are to change the gateway ip or the port.

only the last 3. so i dont know what other steps to take.

calling o2. they say that pay as you go you cant use the settings for blackberry. this is because they dont give pre pay users email address to go with the sim card. BUT. i have seen a blackberry on pay as you being used on o2 pay as you go , that is the reason i went out to get the same and a o2 pre pay simcard.

if there is any help out there it would be greatly appreciaited.

thanks

Welcome to the BBForums.

Your gonna pay one way or the other.
You can't set the IP/Gateway on the 8700.

If you have seen one working as you state, you need to get another look at it, and at their account plan.

I can't really answer for O2, but I do not believe so. Most carriers do not allow PAYG for BB plans.

Another O2 users may chime with more info, if so.

Actually, getting a BB withOUT a data plan is THE waste.

But some don't need data, they are fine. Some need data and don't want to pay for it and that it where it gets sticky.

yeah thats where i was confused. i had got the o2 sim, with being told i can get a 7.50 unlimited mobile internet. so i got that sim. then planned on getting a phone i could use the internet on (thinking BB). put them together. and no luck. seems blackberry runs on something else. but a normal phone with internet options will work..

Hi

You could run the BB on an o2 simplicity pay monthly sim and add a Blackberry Bolt on to it. Or perhaps just add the Bolt on to your current contract as it is for a minimum of 6 months.

You did say you had a contract?

EDIT: yeah the pay and go sim & 7.50 internet bundle will work on any other nokia/sony erricson etc.
