Default My Pin doesn't match what it says under the battery!

Please Login to Remove!

I recently acquired a blackberry pearl and am having some problems. The pin has been hacked and doesn't match what the hardware says it should be. The problem is that the pin has been changed to the same as a guy on the other side of the world and receives my email when I try to use that blackberry. My question is does anybody know how to reset it back to what it should be?

I have already opened a ticket with RIM and they are "investigating". They have been for sometime and haven't been much help thus far.

I know it's a long shot but I thought maybe one of you fine members could help me out!

Thanks!

As far as I know, no.

A PIN cannot be reset. It is hard locked to the device at manufacture, and cannot be changed. Yours is not the one exception to that hard and fast rule in my years of experience with RIM devices.

Where did you buy the device you have?

Well it was actually given to me by a co-worker to see if I could find a way to fix it for him. I believe he bought it from the ever so wonderful eBay. Who knew there were scam artists on ebay?

Your friend should be getting their $$s back from the seller.

Help me hear... you can see your PIN at
1--Options > Status
2--Alt + Right Shift + H
3--Under the battery cover.
4--In any text box, or compose email by typing "mypin" without the quotes and by pressing space after mypin.

Which does not agree?

He has a dispute open. I don't really know what state thats in or what the whole deal is with that. Anyway I don't have the blackberry here at work with my but I was looking around and when you go Options>status it shows different then the pin on the label under the battery.

I don't know for sure what it says when you type in mypin or open the help menu.

It will probably be somewhat difficult to help you here, without the BB.

Which of the PINs does the mail/PIN messages direct to? The one on the sticker, or the one at Options > Status?

The one in the status menu is the one the mail is getting directed to. That is the one I confirmed is the same as another guy in the UK
