Default Invalid Sim Card

Please Login to Remove!

I bought a BB 7100t (T-mobile) from ebay from an individual, it says, New Opened and tested Unblocked.

When I first got this 7100t, I tested it with my T-mobile sim card, and it worked fine on calling, did not test the email.

When I get home, inserted my wife's Cingular sim card, it says "Invalid Sim Card". Could anyone help me out and let me know if there is anything I did wrong and is there anyway to tell if this is indeed unlocked and make it work?

Thank you!

Sounds like your phone is locked with T-Mobile.

Thanks for your reply. Here is what I saw under the Personalization:

Sim: Disabled
Network: Active
Network Subset: Disabled
Service Provider: Disabled
Corporate: Disabled

Can we tell for sure from here that this is still locked?

Thanks!

T-Mobile lock all their BlackBerrys and MDA devices so you can only use T-Mobile SIM cards as far as I know.

Though they're pretty good about unlocking devices if you have had an account with them for a certain period of time. I recently unlocked my partner's 7230 through them.

I am getting upset by this seller. It has been more than one week since I told him that the device is not unlocked. He said he is calling tmobile everyday, and tmobile is waiting for the unlock code from RIM. Does it really take that long??

takeshi:
It is great to know it is possible that I can unlock the phone myself through tmobile. I just called them and explained the situation, the tech support did not ask further information and processed the request. Get my fingers crossed.

Hello djrandee, welcome to the forum.

The 7100t is intended to be used on T-Mobile's network, and it's most likely carrier locked to T-Mobile.
If you want to use a Cingular SIM card in the 7100t, you must get the 7100t unlocked. Currently, there is no software available to do this, however if you have a T-Mobile account which has been in good standing for 90 days, T-Mobile will prove the Unlock Code to you free of charge if you ask them to.

Another route would be to send your phone to Bongo (www.bongowireless.com) and pay them a fee to unlock the handset for you.

You can try... But there is no certainty that they will do it.

OK, you have posted this twice with no real information. What's your point?

I think he must have RIM confused with Nokia.

Maybe not confused, just smoking something good :P

I highly doubt this.
