Default Data Plan?

Please Login to Remove!

I want to buy a blackberry pearl 8120. Many people have asked about this but I still have not seen a straight answer. Is it possible to access the internet browser through wifi if i do not have a data plan? Also which service provider would be the best to use?

What do you mean by "service provider"?

For the browser question, you would need to download and install OperaMini to have any chance at web browsing. That, however is a hit or miss thing. Many have gotten it to work OK and many have not. I suggest you search on OperaMini.

Also this link from the FAQ might help: What do I need a Data Plan for? - BlackBerryFAQ

So whats the point of having wifi capabilities if you still need to have a data plan?

It's the service provider's way of taking our money.

Happily syncing to BES with The Message Center Exchange Hosting

Maybe the BB is not the right tool if all you need is data via wifi. You may want to look at the PDA's w/ phone function. All of the data on the BB goes back thru the BB servers and BB charges the carriers a fee and they in return charge us a fee. If you don't need push email or wireless connectivity (via the provider), I would look elsewhere.
