| Can't uninstall Desktop Manager! Help before I get FIRED! Please Login to Remove! PLEASE HEEELLLPPPP BEFORE I GO CRAZY!!! I'm actually trying to uninstall Desktop Manager 4.5 and no matter what I do, I can't seem to get the software to uninstall because, I suspect, it was originally extracted to a Temp folder that was deleted. Now, I can't use the typical Add/Remove Programs to remove, repair or modify DM becuase I get various errors from can't find the Blackberry Desktop Manager.msi file to error 1304 (or 1317 or 2330) saying Error getting file attributes c:\program files\research in motion\isti connectors\isgroupwise6.5x\1033 Get Last Error:23. I even tried to just delete the Research in Motion folder and that didn't even work because it had some problem with the .ico file! When I tried to navigate to the 1033 folder a message saying that the file folder needed to be formatted which in turn tries to format my WHOLE C: DRIVE! This issue is affecting my career actually. I have to convert my personal BIS BB to a corporate liable BES BB and have to use the corporate approved DM version 4.3 and since I can't get rid of 4.5 this could be a REAL PROBLEM WITH MY EMPLOYER!!! Any ideas would be so appreciated you don't even know! Kudos! Thanks! | | Offline

| Try and download DM 4.3. Installing that should remove DM 4.5, as the install checks for other versions and uninstall any others. | | Offline

| Try this: Download the setup file again from where you originally downloaded it and run it. You should have three options when you run the setup program: Modify, Repair, and Remove. You know which one to choose. | | Offline

Please, keep trying, I tend to have computer problems that noone has ever seen before, so I know this is a challenge. Thanks! | | Offline

If there is some other program that does not use the window's InstallShield Wizard, maybe that's my only recourse, but I don't know what that is. Even tried downloading and using CCleaner which another thread suggested, but that just launches InstallShield. I don't even know if InstallShield is really the problem...I'm at my wit's end | | Offline

| restart your PC, and before you see the Windows loading screen, hit F8 and it should bring you to the boot menu. If you do not see Safe Mode listed, hit F8 again, and it should be there. | | Offline

Now if you could kindly pass me one of those bloody mary's and encourage me to keep away from any open windows...that would be great!

| ok, go to Start>Run and type in MSCONFIG and hit enter
Then click the bubble nest to SELECTIVE STARTUP
and uncheck LOAD STARTUP ITEMS
hit OK and reboot, see if you can delete the folder then, without the ico file error

| hmm. Power down and boot up again, it shouldn't take that long. Basically all that does is tell windows not to load any of the apps that start when you start your PC, like DM or Live Messenger | | Offline

I am thinking that it was saying the file was in use or something? Also, do you have administrator rights on the computer? | | Offline
