Default Hidden IP

Please Login to Remove!

I'm trying to use an e-mail form for a project I'm involved with from my BB. When I try to submit the form the server will not accept it because it says the IP is hidden and hidden IP's are a source of spam.

any work around?

That seems odd because the device's IP is visible in emails sent from it and in forum posts from the device. I can't think of a workaround -- hopefully someone else will.

Looks to me like your not on a BES. The problem could be that all BB browsing requests are handled by the BIS Servers at RIM which use a proxy server (Squid). The proxy server is masquerading your IP which is probably an internal local IP address anyway. Workarounds for the computer exist but for the Blackberry I'm not sure if there is.

The last email I sent myself from my BlackBerry shows the IP address as 216.9.248.57.

Whois record for 216.9.248.57

Would that be an internal IP? I thought an internal IP would be something like 192.168.xxx.xx.

That's the address of the proxy server for the BIS. I'm not saying I'm correct but I'm just throwing it out there that maybe whatever he's trying to browse to is picking up that he's going through a proxy server.

Then yet again I don't know from the post if he's going through a web page using the BB browser or if he's actually sending an email and receiving an email message back stating this. He say's its an email project but that doesn't mean its not a web form he's trying to submit.

If it is indeed an email he is sending and receiving an error message back then it could also be that whatever domain his email address he is sending "as", the remote server cannot find its reverse DNS record. Who knows though. I'm just throwing out ideas on what it could be.

Interesting. I didn't realize the IP was a proxy server. I work at one place that uses squid.

It sounds like he is trying to submit through a web form, but it's not clear.

Yeah, neither did I until I browsed to whatismyipaddress.com out of boredom one day on my BB. Tells you that its a proxy server.

My apologies to the OP for getting off topic, but that is a cool site. It tell you more than other similar sites I've used, like ipchicken.com and whatismyip.com.

The form I'm trying to use is a website. Here is a link to it:

http://www.emailmeform.com/fid.php?f..." target="_new

And here is a screen shot of the error I'm getting when trying to submit a form:

I should mention that I am using BIS.

Is it possible for you to contact the Court/webmaster and ask them to unblock the IP range of the Proxy? 216.9.240.0 - 216.9.255.255. Explain that it's the proxy for Blackberry phone web access. Or you could try to use Opera mini browser.
