Easiest way will be to import your excel data into Outlook and sync Outlook to your BB via the Desktop Manager.

Some Desktop Manager versions will also import CSV text files, which your Excel file can be converted to also... it is just not the most seamless way, in my opinion.

Welcome to the BBforums.

Thanks for the welcome, CSV is a complete nightmare when I convert the excel file it doesn't work, I am meant to be able to import the excel directly into outlook but it doesn't work. Is there another way of doing it maybe with thunderbird email client or something? Or maybe directly importing excel into my blackberry address book? Thanks

No, you can't do it directly to the BB. Using Outlook is seamless and easy.

If you don't have Outlook, I recommend the CSV file.

You will need to use Desktop Manager no matter what, to get your data to the BB Address Book.

Make sure you save with the options for tab delimited, it might be cleaner.

Why not use Outlook Express where they were originally? Just d/l DM 4.3.

Yeah sorry this is all complicated but the person who had the list exported it from outlook in excel (on another computer). All we have is the excel. I am going to save it as tab delimited csv and see how I get on.

thanks for all your help, in the meantime while dm installs I am going to start another thread for some other questions!
