Default Question about buying a new Blackberry

Please Login to Remove!

Heres the situation, my friend right now just had his Krazr break on him and he has to get a new phone. He knows he pretty much wants a BB Curve and I've told him how reliable they are so he's most likely going to get one. He just called me at Bestbuy and told me they have the pearl for $350 standalone price and $50 for the phone with a plan. He wants to know, could he buy the phone with the plan initially for the $50, remove the plan and put his simcard from his old phone in it and use it with his old plan? He's trying to find a way to get it for the 50 dollars but use it with his old simcard and not have to pay for the plan hes purchasing to get it for 50.

Yeah, he can do that, but when he cancels the plan that he used to get the phone for $50, he's going to get charged a hefty early termination fee for breaking his contract.

Read the fine print. Typically there is some verbiage about changing or downgrading the account, and the associated Credit Card getting billed (this is the case for Amazon) the full retail price for the phone... Plus you are still on the hook for the contract.

The carriers and vendors are a little smarter than to allow this type of practice.
