Default BoostBerry! Amazing!

Please Login to Remove!

Hi Everyone!

I have been reading this and other forums for a few months.. And have acquired my first BB Yesterday (EBAY).. ((Actually I bought 9 total now, I am going to BoostBerry them for friends, sell them, etc...))

I am amazed at how easy it to get free unlimited Internet! Itís amazing! And itís faster than I thought!

For those that arenít Familiar... you get a Nextel BB phone... But use a BOOST mobile Sim Card... And it will not only allow you to make calls and DC... you can get FREE unlimited internet!! I installed Opera mini browser..

My question is about Messengers... I have installed IM+ which is absolutely the best, BUT its $50 bucks.. and I really canít afford that.. So do any of you know of a similer cheaper or free "all-in-one" instant messenger?

I have tooled around for HOURS since my first 7520 arrived, and although I have high speed internet and brand new laptop.. I am using my BB because I cant get over it...lol (sorry Iím easily amused)

Last question: What other free software that uses TCP/IP internet that will work on my BOOSTBERRY for ANYTHING... What do you have on YOUR BOOSTBERRY!

Sorry to write so much... Ill calm down eventually!

Welcome to the BBforums.

Your setup will work fine for some internet use, not push email or the main BB browser, downloading to the BB, etc., which requires the browser. Enjoy what you have, there is still much more.

Get JiveTalk for IM. Beejive | instant messaging, just about anywhere

You should read the FAQs here... this one especially

Would this work on an AT&T curve?

Thanks.

Hi, and thanks for the reply's.. BUT the problem is I can not download OTA with my set up because it trys to "invoke" the BB browser to DL.. so thats ok.. and I already had webmessenger and removed it because I could not get it to work for some reason.. I may retry to install it.. BUT It may not work with TCP..???

I am now usisng JiveTlak trial, and its cool! and only 20 bucks when I have to buy it.. BUT if I can get the same as JIVE or IM+ but free I will do that...

Thanks

Nextel BBs use iDEN, whereas AT&T uses GSM, so no it won't work. Also, iDEN is REALLY SLOW for data, so I'm not sure where this amazing speed is coming from, although Opera Mini does perform pretty well on iDEN bandwidth.

If you activate a Boost SIM, and choose their "Auto Reboost" option, you can pay as little as $15 every 90 days, as long as you don't exceed the small voice minute allotment that the $15 would get you.

I've actually considered using a bluetooth-enabled Nextel phone with a Boost SIM to tether to my TomTom GPS for obtaining traffic information, as opposed to paying Verizon $15-$30 per month for tethering, but I don't know if tethering would incur additional charges on a setup like that.

No it would not.. I have tested every possible situation I can imagine.. and immedialty aftr, I check my Boost account online.. NoTHING!

The speed is not amazing.. BUT what is Amazing is that the sped is pretty good! Mt friend has a new IPHONE... and although there is no comparison.. the speed is not alot slower for openign pages.. For free.. its pretty good! Plus the always on Intant messnger apps are great... and also free..

I would like to ask a few questions to anyone who knows.. I atill am amazed the I get internet etc.. This si what I have installed and working now:

Opera Mini (FREE)
Hello World GPS (FREE)
iSkoot for Skype (FREE)
JiveTalk (Free to try 19.95 license) (I lovr it, and its worth it)
IMobileMail (Free to try) its ok.. but you have to pay
Google maps (FREE) it only gov me an option for BT GPS though.. did I install the wrong one??

My questions are....

1. I have seen somewhere before that there is a workaround or fix so you can download OTA.. (currently while browsing in Opera and you try to DL OTA it opens BB Browser and says no service) I know I have seen that its possible to fix this, BUT can't find it now.. Any Ideas??

2. What other OTA programs are any of you currently using on your 7520.
3. Whih is better 7520 or 7100? I ordered a 7100 it should be here soon
4. Is there a way to link / Sync my outlook contacts and calender eith my BB with my setup

Thanks for any advice and help!!!

I am not aware of work around on that.

For that you need to decide between having SureType on the 7100 or not... and a few other extras on the 7100. If you've ordered the 7100, why ask now?

Yes, via Desktop Manager, like any other BlackBerry. Very simple.
