Default Not get email in time from 8330

Please Login to Remove!

I bought curve 8330 from AT&T last week. I use blackberry internet service to receive my school email. However, I cannot get emails until they are in my school mailbox 4 or 5 hours later. Moreover, when I open outlook express or open IE to log in to my school account in my laptop, curve can get email immediately. Does anybody have the same problem? I send service book several times. But the problem still persists.

hav eyou tried deleting the email account from your BIS site and adding it again?

Also, AT&T doesn't have an 8330.

How have you set up your email delivery systems? It sounds as if there are some forwarding rules or something that you may have set up, as opposed to the "normal" BIS set up with a delay of up to 15 minutes. Please describe your setup in some detail.

It is 8310.

I try delete account from BIS and set up it again. It seems that problem becomes even worse as curve does not get emails even if I open outlook in my computer.

I am just newbie to BB and do not know how to set advanced options. I think that I never set any forwarding rules in BB.

Any advice? I need to ask for exchange for the device.

Thank you.

Also, make sure you have "Leave Mail On Server" selected on all the email clients you use. Otherwise, mail will be deleted once it is downloaded to that client and will not go to the BB (or any place else for that matter).

The problem is that BB can receive those email several hours later. And my school email uses IMAP server. I never delete any email unless memory limit exceeds.

I just set up my gmail account in BB. There is no problem with gmail account. Is it because of my school email? Or BB needs special set-up for IMAP server?

I tried to wipe the phone, delete and add email account both through curve and my laptop. Nothing works. I checked BIS advance setting of my school IMAP server. It is right.

I called my school tech support and they have no idea. They also told me that there is no one reporting this kind problem to them.

Does anyone have any idea? Thanks!

I was in the same boat. I had three email accounts (1 work, 1 personal, and 1 BIS email) all using imap. The work email would take over 2 hours to show up, unless I opened my email client on my workstation, in which case, all the emails would automatically show up on my phone. My personal email and the BIS email all showed new mail instantly. This all started to happen after I upgraded to 4.5. I think now it has sort of been fixed (email takes 15 - 20 minutes) to show up. All I did was call t-mobile and asked them to resend my email service books.

Have you tried doing that as well? Call your provider and ask them to re-send your service books.

Thanks,
William

Thank you for the advice.

I tried to resend the service book through BIS from both my computer and device. It does not solve the problem.

Actually, after I request to resend service book, I can get all current new messages. Then the problem persists.

Sorry to hear that it did not fix it. I think I still experience it from time to time, where email takes a while to get to my phone (mainly at night, which I really don't care, since I am sleeping). I did notice that if you have say, 3 new emails on your phone, open one email, read it, then delete it and wait a few minutes, all of a sudden your backlog of email will show up (sometimes up to 20 at a time). It could be something with the blackberry server that polls your email server to see if you have new emails that might be running every few hours instead of minutes.

Since I am the admin for our company email server, I decided to take a look at the number and times the blackberry server connects, and yes, my theory seems to be correct. There are gaps in the times it connects from 30 minutes apart to over an hour apart (Server name and user names have been replaced)

I might get ahold of the blackberry tech support and see what they say. Will update when I speak to tech support.

I changed for a new curve yesterday. It seems that problem can not be fixed as well.

Do you think that upgrading to 4.5 will help? Or it is purely blackberry server's problem?

My wife got an iPhone and it has no problem to access my school email. And my final solution might be set my account on my wife's iPhone so that my curve can get email one or two minutes later.

No, upgrading nor swapping phones will help. It seems its a blackberry server issue. I called T-Mobile explained the issue, all they stated was that my email address showed an error and that it was not a valid email address (even though I occasionally did get emails to my phone). She then proceeded to removing the email and having me re-add it and re-register the phone to the network. It hasn't been long enough for me to get an accurate reading if it fixed the issue or not, but so far, I do see connections from the blackberry server every few minutes( <20 ) to my work email server, so maybe it did the trick.
