Red face Email options?

Please Login to Remove!

Are there options for how I want my 7290 to sync with my email on a daily basis? After a full day at work, my 7290 has all of my sent and received messages from that day displayed, and I have to scroill through them all and delete them.

Is there an options area somewhere that I am missing that I can control this stuff? Thanks. -g

If you are on BES, your BB is doing exactly what it supposed to be doing, namely: mirroring what is in Outlook (or Lotus Notes if you're using that). If you delete your sent mail and Inbox items on your BB, they will also be deleted in Outlook/Notes on your desktop.

Option: configure your BB not to receive mail while connected to the desktop.

Open Blackberry Desktop Manager (on desktop, naturally)->Redirector Settings->General tab->Check box for: Disable email redirection while your handheld is connected.

OK. Interestingly, my calendar syncs automatically back and forth between Outlook and 7290, but if I delete emails from the BB, they do NOT get deleted from Outlook, although they come up as read. Same when I delete Outlook emails, they do not delete from BB. Weird?

You may want to check the Messages options on the BB.

In Messages, go to Options|Email Reconciliation.
Change 'Delete On:' from Handheld to Mailbox & Handheld.

Now, when you delete a message from your BB, it will sync back to your mail client and delete the message also.

Also, if you permanently delete your emails from your inbox (and not place them in the deleted items folder) they won't be deleted on the BB.
The emails will need to be in the deleted items folder for a period of time for them to be deleted of the BB.

Another option for the email is that it sounds like you have a full 4.0 solution. On the BlackBerry go into messages > Options > Email Settings > click the thumbwheel and choose Folder redirection. Expand the tree and you will be able to select which folders get redirected to your BlackBerry. If you don't want to see all the messages you sent from Outlook, unselect the sent items folder.

As for deleting, also make sure you are not using the "Delete Prior" feature of the BlackBerry.

another trick is to go into Messages > Email Reconciliation, and set Wireless Reconcile to Off. Save the change, then go back in and set it to On.
