I have a user that wants to be able to read messages on their BB but leave the messages on the exchange serve as unread until they actually open outlook and read them there too. Any way to actually do that?

you'd have to just mark the message as unread on the device after reading it.

Yep.... that works.... I can't find any local settings to not mark the Outlook mail when viewed on the BB first... Maybe it's an option that the Exchange Server Zar's have?

I have seen a few discussions in here and it always comes to the same, that it can't be done.
i really never understand why users want that to happen; why do they want to go through the same emails twice?
If you need to deal with it later, then mark that email as unread or create a sub folder called To Do and file it in there until you get back to the office.

That user's reasoning was that alot of vendors send information really later at night when they were not at work and they would read those email at that time and forget to look at them again the next morning for follow up. They thought that would be the easiest for them.

I have a user who is on BIS and ounce the email is pushed to the blackberry it is automatically marked as READ in her OUtlook Inbox - how do i stop this from happening.
She not read the email on the BB or in the inbox but it automatically gets made 'read' anyway.

Talking thanks for the help

Thanks dodgydane and karen_hutton with those tips.

I just wasted some time to get this answer straight.

I agree:
why read it twice and waste all that time, sheesh.
Figures it was a top sales man asking to do this.

Bumble, its a BES thing not possible on a BIS.

Ha ha....you knew it would have to be a sales person asking that!

BumbleBeeTuna, is the BIS pointing to an Exchange server or is it POP3?
Was it always like that or did it just start happening?

you can turn the wireless reconcile option off. that way outlook won't get updated, but also if he read is on outlook, it won't get updated on the BB. I guess it could keep synching using DM
