hey guys. sorry if this is posted somewhere but i'm not very good with this whole forum thing and finding stuff. anyways..i tried downloading AIM (aol instant messenger) to my phone. when i went to blackberry.com/instantmessgaing on my phone it said the only available IM applications were Yahoo Messenger, Windows Live Messenger and Google Talk. It said that AIM wasn't supported by my phone (the pearl) or through my carrier (verizon). so my question is..is this true? does anyone have a pearl or verizon and use AIM? AIM is my primary instant messaging application so any input would be great!

yeah the AIM application from RIM isn't avaiable for Verizon Phones. however, Verizon does offer an AIM app. the only issue is it send and receives AIM messages as SMS or texts, not over the data plan like the RIM application does. so if you have unlimited texts then go for it. i've never used it cause i don't have unlimited texts (i'm too cheap). and i suspect that verizon has stopped RIM from releasing their AIM app for just that reason.
**stupid verizon, so greedy**
YES. that helped so much. I have unlimited text messaging so i will look into it through verizon. thanks sooooo much! and i agree....verizon is greedy!
