I'm not sure if your blackberry is wifi capable. You might want to open your browser, press the menu key, and go to options. It should be under browser configuration or other and it will tell you if your browser is wifi capable. I know the windows mobile devices are wifi capable but I don't know if the blackberry is.

You can use the wifi browser to surf the internet but most internet based applications will NOT use the stand-alone wifi connection for data. Also, you can't get email and other blackberry services without a blackberry plan.

That is what I do with my 8120. No data plan, no internet plan, just the plain voice (phone) service. I can surf the web through Wifi. Works great at home or at our library.

First, if you know what you can and can't get, why would you ask (twice?) I answered your question above. Yes, you can surf the web. Is it like the wifi on an ipod touch? I have no idea. It's well documented that the browser on the iPhones/iPod Touch is superior to the Blackberry.
