Default issue with emails showing 'read' in BIS..

Please Login to Remove!

Hello everyone,
I'm dealing with a customer who is on BIS and I hope this is the right location for this. But I'm being told that when this particular user gets an email on his outlook it will show that it's read, as soon as it comes in. He's telling me that his BB shows the message still unopen. He states that if he removes the battery then a few of the emails on his outlook will show unopened (like they normally would), then out of no where they will start showing 'read'. To me this doesn't add up because BIS reconsiles with the email server. Regardless what he does on the phone with an email, it won't reflect this change in his outlook, correct? could this be something within the exchange server?
thanks!
