OK. I recently ported my number from T-Mobile to AT&T (July 25th). Partly for the overall better signal I get with AT&T, partly for 3G, and mostly in preparation for the Blackberry Bold. I was planning to buy one outright when they're available, but I won one from Horizon Wireless and BBF. Anyway, until the Bold is out on AT&T I've been without a BB. I sold all my T-Mo Blackberrys except my 7105t (I can't part with it) and I've been using a Nokia E71. Great mobile, but it's no Blackberry!

Well, not having a Blackberry got to me. I couldn't hold out, and the rumors of delays or simply the lack of a firm release date was/is making me nuts. So what do I do? I run to the AT&T store and buy an 8820, just to hold me over until the Bold arrives. Full retail. Screw it. When ya gotta have one, ya gotta have one! Immediate gratification is what I'm all about. And the big dumb grin on my face just won't go away!

They had just gotten in a bunch of iPhones, all ordered by customers. Looks like it's taking about 7 business days for Instant Fulfillment orders. White ones take a little longer they said. Just in case anybody cares.

Oh how I wish I didn't read this thread. I am trying not to do the very same thing. I have an 8830. My sister just got the 8330 from Verizon and after playing with it, I love it! I really like the keyboard and I would love to have a camera.

Nothing sick about it at all. In fact, I wish I could just stop debating it with myself and go get it!

I am not eligible for an upgrade so I would be paying the full retail of $429.99!

I tell myself I can always recoup some of the money spent by selling it later, but that's just a panacea to appease my conscience. I'm getting a free Bold, but I just couldn't wait another month. Week. Day! Ahhhhh..... :D

I read another thread on here that said that RIM was disabling the pins on Bolds registered on US networks until carriers released them in the US. They just keep making this harder and harder.

I think the bold is just a tease,it's never going to come out!
Although it's well worth the wait.
I got to play around with it about a month and a half ago and its schweeettt.

I haven't gotten rid of this big dumb grin I've had since walking out of the AT&T store with my shiny new 8820. :D God, I love this thing! I had convinced myself that Nokia phones and Symbian S60 were a good replacement for Blackberry. Sure, they'll get the job done, but Blackberry remains head and shoulders above Nokia/Symbian for anything but multimedia (which isn't my focus). The scientific term for my justification in using Nokias is Cognitive Dissonance. While I didn't exactly feel any stress, I had the niggling suspicion that I was settling for second best. And I was. Now that I'm safely back in the fold I can rest easy knowing that my communications device will "just work".

I upgraded to OS 4.5.0.55 as per the link in the sticky at the top of the 8800 forum. Full HTML email is spectacular. Much faster than the paid solutions like BB Smart or Empower. What really thrills me is my .Mac email is instantly pushed to my Blackberry, courtesy of Apple's upgrade to MobileMe. Push email isn't an absolute necessity for me but once you've had it you find it tough to give up!

Stop already, you're making me drool. My birthday is in 3 weeks. I should just go treat myself. Wait, I already did that. I bought a bracelet that I've wanted for months. Maybe I'll have to find another reason to treat myself. Or, just gain some sanity and wait for my sister to get home so I can play with hers again. That might help still the beast.
