Restoring backups without overwriting? Has anyone found a way to do this yet? Here's what happened. Installed an OS 2 weeks ago, and backup went as planned. While restoring after loading the OS, the restore failed, so the messages were there, but the SMS options were never restored! Therefore, the option to keep messages forever was changed to 30 days. And I went from 3500 messages down to 300. So I made a backup of what's current, and restored my last backup. However, Desktop Manager overwrites what's current...so I'm stuck between choosing what's current and what's past. Any ideas? I don't see why merging the backup into the current data is so difficult... :x |

However, I do agree that RIM really should offer a tool to merge backup and current data as there is a clear need for this. |
Yeah, that's a tough call. As takeshi said, there is no way to merge them. However, in the future, don't forget that you have a Backup/Restore Advanced feature in Desktop Manager where you can restore just certain databases. That might prevent this problem in the future. |
