Default Blackberry Media Card/Music Help

Please Login to Remove!

I have a Blackberry Pearl and have purchased a 4 GB Scandisk Micro SD card on which to put some music. I have been using Blackberry Media Manager to transfer songs. Here is the issue. Things appear to transfer but some show up on the Blackberry and some don't. However, when I "look" at the card using either Blackberry Media Manager or Windows Explorer all the tracks are there. But for some reason they are not being picked up by the Blackberry. What's strange is that for some artists/albums everything shows up fine but then later will be all or partially gone.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

Are you encrypting your media card? Usually a battery pull will cause the BlackBerry to scan your SD card again.

Are they all MP3? Did you rip any from CD with iTunes? Are any purchased songs?

No, I'm not encrypting the card.

About 95% are songs that I ripped from cds using Windows Media Player. But there is not pattern to what is and is not showing up. For example, earlier tonight I put some things on there that had been purchased from an online site and they showed up but are not now.

If there was a pattern to what is and is not being recognized I could understand it but it appears to be totally random.

For example, I just deleted everything and reset the phone so that nothing showed up in the "Music" folder in the media player. I then dragged and dropped a bunch of stuff using Windows Explorer and very little of that actually is being shown as on the Blackberry but if you look at the media card, everything is there. So it's not that things are not getting transferred, it's just that the Blackberry is not "recognizing" them as being there.

Interestingly, when I look at the media card using Windows Explorer I can play the songs from the Blackberry.

Very strange!

Are your music files saved in the Music folder?

All my music files are NOT in the Music folder, but rather "unfoldered" - they show up in the same directory with Blackberry folder and my SyncToy folder. When I tried moving them to a Music folder, the phone stopped recognizing them.

Hope that helps.

Default music problem

I had the same problem, and I took out the battery and poped it back in, and the songs should up. But this was after I tried many different things. The last thing I did was transfer the songs directly from the CD to the blackberry using media manager.

Hope this helps.

A battery pull ususally fixes this problem.
