Default Help please! BES3.6 media needed.

Please Login to Remove!

Well, might as well try this...

The server where BES resides decided to commit suicide the other night. We need to reinstall badly, but are unable to locate our media. Our vendor is located in New Orleans, so we obviously are unable to get it from them, and I've exhausted all other options. We have all our license codes, completely legal, etc. but RIM still refuses to help.

Our business is located in Southern LA (Baton Rouge), so e-mail is really the only viable communication method due to Katrina. I wouldn't be surprised if this post gets deleted as soon as it's posted, but if anyone could help in any way possible, it would be amazing.

Why won't RIM help you? If email is your only way to communicate, how do you wish to receive the media even if anyone is willing to help?

You need to download your software from RIM, but you will need TSupport inorder to download it.

Because we didn't pay massive amounts of money for support. We have FTP space available for someone to upload an .ISO if they can.

Gee, just to get a replacement CD? I better go look for mine. If RIM requires support subscription just to replace your CD, is it even ok to upload you the ISO? Are we going to violate license agreement if we upload you a copy of the disc?

I hope you are not offended at my questions. Helping is good but helping and getting yourself in trouble is a different topic.

Giving someone else parts of the application and/or install violates your end-user license agreement. I don't see the harm, but...

That policy is silly when the software is pretty much useless without the proper license code. However, I have not fully read the RIM end-user license agreement.

Even Microsoft will let you order replacement CD for a nominal fee. If RIM wants the users to pay mega bucks for their support agreement to supply replacement CD and then make it a violation to get a copy from your colleague, then they are really low.

sharing software with or without license codes is and has been against most EULA's for years and years and years. its not so much the license code being an issue, in these cases, as it is the software itself. people can reverse engineer things, crack it, etc (not in this case). its just a good idea to never share software, even if you don't include the license code.

however, in this case, i think even the most conservative and strict person could make an exception.

i'm very astonished that RIM will not allow him to download it. that kind of ticks me off. there should be media only purchases that could be made, though. there used to be, atleast.
