Default HTML email on 4.5 - not so great

Please Login to Remove!

Hoping people can help me understand what's so great about the html email capability in 4.5. I see people raving about having html now and how it's fantastic, but I've been using Empower Pro for over a year and it's far superior to the 4.5 native html viewer. Am I missing something?

One plus--one less third party application running on the device.

Although I do like the Add to Calendar and Add to Task options in BBSmart.

The price isn't that bad either of the one in 4.5.

Links open the browser instead of "Get Link." I think that alone is worth it.

So far, that's about the only real advantage I can see to 4.5 versus a 3rd party app. Empower and BBsmart have had the basics covered by 4.5 for a long time, so I'm trying to figure out if there's something I'm missing by using Empower instead of 4.5 html viewer.

What you're missing is the html formatting. Empower cleans up the links and displays the pictures, but it doesn't do the formatting.

With that said, I still have yet to see the 4.5 email client display ALL the pictures in an email. It always does the html formatting, but seems to display pictures randomly. :/

I have my empower set to strip all images anyhow - faster loading and doesn't tip off the sender...

My 8820 is set for html email but always needs to be told to go and get the images. Works OK, but I'd prefer that they download and display automatically.

Seriously? That is kinda annoying. Is this a carrier thing or applies to all?

So if gmail is pushed through via 4.5, it would display html?

I've read from other threads that you have to manually download images for each email. Sort of confusing when "download images automatically" is an option in settings, and YES or NO seemingly have the same effect.

Exactly what you said. I have to use the "Can't see images? Click Here." option when I open my mail.
In the end though, it's more of an inconvenience than anything else; nothing I lose sleep over. And like I said in my post earlier, it's free.
