Default Differences between blackberry private and enterprise version

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

Anybody can show me the differences between the blackberry private and enterprise versions? Because I am new to blackberry or others PDA devices, but my boss requests me to have a summary between them before having this solution. Hence, I hope I can get some ideas from you guys.

Thanks for your help first.

Links and quick summary
Enterprise:
http://www.blackberry.com/solutions/...se/index.shtml
- One mailbox, one BlackBerry
- 3DES or AES encryption during wireless transfer to/from the BlackBerry
- With the 4.0 solution, full wireless synchronization/backup
- Wireless reconcile with your mailbox for moves/deletes/reads
- Instant delivery
- Requires Microsoft Exchange Server, Lotus Domino, or Novel GroupWise
- Hefty cost for purchase
- There are sites on the net that will host your email and BES side of things.

Private
http://www.blackberry.com/solutions/...al/index.shtml
- No additional costs
- Can receive mail from up to 10 different email accounts
- Up to 15 minute delay in message receiving (unless you forward your mail)
- No Wireless synchronization or reconciliation
- No encryption to/from the handheld

Both can do Attachment viewing (with the proper set up by your wireless provider for the private solution)
Both can do web surfing (again, with proper set up by your wireless provider for the private solution)
Both will allow you to synchronize your PIM applications with your desktop email program.

Hope this helps

Thanks a lot!
But I want to know why there is no encryption to/from the handheld for private edition? Is there a BES server hosted at ISP side, and the message is pushed from that side to the handheld via wireless channel (encrypted ?????) ?

No BES is hosted from the ISP. You would need to get your email either through the desktop redirector (which requires a PC be constantly on) or through the BWC (Blackberry Web Client) which would enable POP3, OWA, etc, access to email accounts. This would also apply to corporate email accounts not through a BES.
