Default Newbie Curve POP Gmail Yahoo syncing

Please Login to Remove!

I am new to the BB. After a painful setup I am comfortable using it.

My question is regarding wireless sync of email/contact/calendar.

I have been using a windows treo for years. While it had it's problems, the intellisync software did a good job of syncing email, contacts and calendar in almost real-time to my work exchange server.

Now I am working at home, with no exchange.

I have a work email currently accessing via outlook on a pop connection. I added it as an email account to BIS, but I found that the sync was slow and not real reliable. Plus when I read it on the BB, it did not show read In Outlook. When I deleted it, it did not delete in Outlook (or it just took a long time). Then I realized I could not sync the contacts or calendar with Outlook. I know I can with a cord, but not wireless.

I found with Gmail the email sync is excellent, and I found I could sync the calendar. But WHAT ABOUT CONTACTS??

I tried Yahoo, but could only sync the email, NOT the contacts or calendar.
VERY FRUSTRATING.

I wish I could sync Yahoo email, calendar and contacts instantly with the built in software (not added yahoo browser) in my BB. That would solve it.

Please tell me if my finding are correct.

Yep you got it right. Only BES service w/exchange or Domino can wireless sync everything. You might want to try setting up your gmail account with IMAP in the BIS. There's lots of info here on how to do it.

Yeah, I've been through hell trying to get Yahoo and Gmail contacts to sync. I'm working on a few things. We'll see if any of them pan out.

I gave up on getting Gmail to sync contacts or the calendar. After 2+ years you would think Google could do better at BB integration...

After some research on these forums I found sync with Yahoo was possible. I switched over to Yahoo but never got it to work under Desktop Mgr 4.5. Once I upgraded to 4.6 everything is working. On first sync all of my contacts from BB were uploaded to my Yahoo. Calendar and notes are also in sync.
