Default 8330 Curve Email

Please Login to Remove!

I mentioned in an earlier post a problem with the icon for one email account. Now I have a problem with more than the icon.

After deleting and replacing the email account to see if it fixed the icon issue last night, the account found one new email this morning and then stopped working completely (as far as finding new emails, I can still open and see the account contents, etc.)

A dozen or more new emails have been ignored while the BB continues to get mail for another account moments after it is sent every time.

The "reconcile now" feature seems to show proper activity-- like it is updating, but nothing actually happens as far as finding the missing emails...

Are you BIS, BES or Redirector?

Is the email being delivered to an email client such as Outlook on a PC? If so, then you need to make sure you have "Leave Mail on Server" check in the setup. Mail could be downloaded to the PC client and then deleted from the server before it has a chance to be collected by RIM and pushed to the BB.

Default Solved, Sort Of

I have this working now but I wouldn't mind knowing what happened if anyone has more info on this--

I deleted the account for a second time and added it for the third. (And yes, the same "Y!" icon came back as before.)

I carefully logged out after the deletion and looked thoroughly for any sign of the box. None was apparent. Then I restarted the BB in case some list needed rebuilding, etc. before I added back the account.

When the account was re-created, I realized that not only were the mailbox icons leaving and coming back the same way, but the orig. mailbox CONTENTS were coming back too...

Apparently deleting the mailbox doesn't really delete it. Either that or there is a magic spell that brings back old messages (but NOT any NEW ones since the deletion).

I surmise some sort of internal list got corrupted in the process?

Once I manually deleted the all messages the problem fixed itself. None of the missed mail came back, but new messages come in since the time of the repair...

Bell South email is Gmail? How can that be? This is a six-year-old account from Bell South. I don't even think Gmail existed back then...

Not redirected. I'm getting my acronyms mixed up, but not the enterprise deal.

Apart from the BB, I check mail at home from several Macs (only) with the standard Mac mail package. (The application is called Mail.app) Since several machines check them I always keep all but one machine set to leave mail forever and then one machine leaves it for a week. No settings changed and the BB was was working fine until I deleted and restored the mail account the first time, though I should point out that the failure was not immediate and several items did come through after the first restore (but not the second).

In other words this may have nothing to do with the deletion and restoration of the account. It may be that the fact the account comes back with the old emails still there has nothing to do with the failure, but then how odd that deleting the old messages started the mail coming in again-- and in that case it was within a couple of minutes from the deletions that things started working again.

All I know is this has been a big hassle to try and "fix" an icon, especially since the icon remains unchanged-- LOL...

I've made this too confusing I think-- ORIG. problem was "Y!" icon on an account that was "@bellsouth.net"

My comment was to say that I was confused since someone seemed to think that bellsouth.net was the same as (owned by, etc.?) gmail.

I'll live with the curious icon-- I just want smooth email use!
