Default Do I need a BES dataplan? (AT&T)

Please Login to Remove!

I appoligize if this is an old question but I havnt found an answer.

My company uses BlackBerrys for managers. I want to sync my personal blackberry to our exchange server to sync my work email, calendar, etc... Do I have to purchase the more expensive enterprise dataplan to do this or can I do it with the normal personal blackberry data plan?

If your company uses BES then yes you would need a BES plan.

No problem. The other plan, BIS, won't allow you to connect.

Be sure to check with your corporate IT department before signing up for BES, some companies like the one I work for only allow BB handsets that they own on their BES servers. So those of us who don't qualify for the company BB at work are SOL....

Also keep in mind that the IT Policy they push to your device can really limit what you can and cannot do on the BB. Plus, you will have no more private information coming from or going to that device.
