I'm an AT&T customer in the US - I will be in Toronto next week and would love to buy a Bold from Rogers Cellular and use it on my current AT&T account here in the US.
Is this possible? How hard would it be to configure a new Bold to work in the US?
thanks! |
Hi...
There are plenty of folks that have done this. The only questions are will the phone you purchase be unlocked and do you need support? If the answer is Yes to unlocked phone, then you should be able to place your SIM card into the BOLD and be up and running. This is also an assumption that your running BIS and not BES. You will need to EA if your on the BES.
Now, normally, I would call AT&T and notify them of the hardware change.
I am not sure if this is always needed in this case. And, you will get zero support if you have any issues and call AT&T as they will probably tell you that your running hardware they do not support. So, if you want to purchase the Rodgers Bold outright you will need to pay a larger amount of money so that Rodgers does not have a contract with you.
I am waiting but like you, if the opportunity presented itself and I could purchase, I may be inclined to investigate and purchase if the price was not too steep.
Hopefully some of the folks that already have the Bold can chime in.
Good luck and let us know how your doing...
