Unhappy blackberry 8830

i just bougth a blackberry 8830 on ebay
i live in portugal.
some people say that i can unlock it some people say that is impossible to unlock the phone that is from alltel phone company can someone help me on this.

If your device is Alltel branded, it is CDMA and cannot be unlocked. Only GSM devices can be unlocked for use on other GSM networks.

The 8830 is CDMA and GSM.

f3rrar1 - have you tried putting a local SIM card into it? It may be unlocked.

Oh well yeah then there's that... my bad, sorry

As a rule, CDMA devices cannot be unlocked, but the 8830 is a hybrid of sorts.
