Default Saving/creating documents

Sorry - I confused things the other day asking this question and the answer regarding memory sort of took over.

Several models of Blackberrys. We generally keep attachments for reference.

The only way that we have found to do so is to save the message as saved email. Then someone exceeds his memory and we have a lost reference.

I need a way, without third party software, operasting under a BES, to save an attachment as a document - maybe on a memory card the same way as we save pictures. Hopefully get it completely out of the email program. these would not be large documents - a few lists, a couple of pages of text, some Excel that would be maybe 200 lines, 10 columns, no macros.

Is this possible? I explored Google docs, but I think it would violate the purpose of our security regs to place documents on a server that is out of our control. I know that I would be nervous about that if I were a sysop.

If the handhelds are running OS 4.5 you can use Documents To Go for this. It supports Word, Excel and Powerpoint documents.

That's a third party program and I am not allowed to add it to the BB. And the program is locked at 4.1.

I'm guessing that I am out of luck.
thanks.
