Default PIN to PIN questions

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

could someone confirm that PIN to PIN messages do not go via or use my BES? In other words if my mail server / BES was unavailable but i still had a GPRS connection i could still send a pin to pin message??

Thanks in advance

Phil

The PIN to PIN messages do not use your existing mail system at all so if your mail server was down you can still send PIN messages. As far as my understanding of the system goes, you should be able to send PIN msg's when the BES server is down too. Your device still has to be displaying GPRS in caps and not lowercase though.

Essentially correct. PIN messages go through RIM's server infrastructure, but do not touch your BES.

The uppercase "GPRS" basically indicates that the device is able to connect to RIM's servers. A lower-case "gprs" indicator simply means that the carrier is providing a GPRS signal, but RIM's servers are not reachable for whatever reason.

I'm a newbie so bare with me, please. I downloaded the blackberry messenger yesterday. There was a note regarding Cingular not supporting BackBerry Messenger 'at this time'.

Does Cingular now support BlackBerry Messenger ?

TIA
