4.5.0.55 is berry berry good for me.
They aren't running activex on your BB - as far as I know that isn't possible. Any activex controls would run on your PC/laptop, to help complete the update.

Talked to ATT, they do not care if one can upgrade directly from RIM but will not support 4.5 until they have it officially on their end. But RIM's method is not working, like others here, the application loader tells me that I am running the most current version, while I am actually running 4.2. It does not seems right.

I might remind you that the presence of 4.5 has not been confirmed. How then can you say with any certainty that this process doesn't work? If you browse the ATT download site on blackberry.com, you won't find 4.5 there either.

4.2 is in fact the most recent release available via AT&T... at this time.

It still doesn't work as of 7PM Eastern time...

I had a Newton in 1994 and WAY too many PDA's and PDA Phones to remember since...

Apparently it only works if your provider supports 4.5 on the devices... check the link... I have quoted the first paragraph from the article... since AT&T has not released it's "approved" 4.5 OS, if your PIN is associated with AT&T, the upgrade is blocked because 4.2 is the latest approved OS for your device...

Looks like the Web Upgrade for OS 4.5 we mentioned before is limited by your PIN # and its association with your carrier. If your carrier does not officially support OS 4.5 then this is useless. In essence this Web Based option just helps people to upgrade their OS officially. Talk about a letdown…

If fonejunkie is right, we may need to wait for the upgrade. I asked ATT if/when they will provide support to 4.5. The answer was "no idea" Not shocking, but disappointing. Hope they will support it when the newest blackberry in the block land at ATT later this year...

Not surprising either. In many years and over many different models with several different carriers I've never seen a carrier announce a BB OS update. It will come when it come. If you want 4.5 now then get it from another carrier. If support from at&t (HA!) becomes an issue then revert to an at&t OS load.

I have a 8300 and running 4.5.0.55. Is this upgrade higher? 4.5.0.69?

It won't recognize/upgrade an AT&T phone with OS > 4.2. The highest level OS released/supported by AT&T is 4.2.xx.xxx, so this upgrade process will NOT work. You can still upgrade manually with the latest and greatest from the 83109 OS thread/link in 8300 forum.

Correct, it's intended to update the 4.2.2.170 version on the handsets sold prior.
