The techs at att sais that my phone won't let me do pay per use because it is a new model. Therefore without the data plan I cannot recieve multimedia text messages. They said that the newer models won't allow pay per use. anyone heard of that? So mow my phone reads "data connection refused"

They are correct.
You can't use pay-per-use for multimedia messages on an AT&T BlackBerry.
You need to subscribe to a BlackBerry Data Plan.

You need a BlackBerry Data Plan to get the MMS service books on your device. No other way to get them.

what a concept that would be though... pay per use blackberry... only pay for what you use. if you go over the allocated useage, it would auto covert to the full month plan.... that would b really nce

That plan will not allow MMS (or any BlackBerry data features) on an AT&T BlackBerry Device.
As mentioned above, you need the MMS service books which can only be sent to the device if there is a BlackBerry Data Plan provisioned on the line.

We were able to get the service books for my wife's pearl... she has no data plan, but an unlimited texting family plan. After hours on the phone with AT&T, we were able to get them to send the service books... but it was like pulling teeth.
