Default ApploaderWebSL-Upgrade-anyone else tweaked re this app download/stealth installed?

Please Login to Remove!

Apologies if these have been asked elsewhere or if they're not a concern elsewhere. I just am used to a different communication style/download process from RIM...
  • Why no desktop shortcut?
  • Why no link within WinXP Programs/Blackberry folder?
  • Why no upgrade to Desktop Manager - App loader (or am I not understanding how I will be managing apps and OS in the future?)
  • Why no actual new software for my BB 8820?

I will. Great idea (and I should've thought of it).

Many of us are trying to get a grip on the new web upgrade app that apparently was just discovered today. I'm afraid it's unlikely that anyone but RIM has any answers yet. If it makes you feel better, nobody I'm aware of has gotten a "There is a new version of your device software!"

No luv anywhere...

Much appreciated insight. I had not seen any comments about today's discovery nor any concerns, so I posted. I'm hardly an authority on RIM's behavior with their userbase, but this seemed stranger/non-SOP than prior announcements/enhancements/upgrades...

As I am a humble BIS user and have never prev. invested in any technical support plans (and cannot afford to start now), I have found no direct way to query RIM technical support on their website.

Anybody know someone to ask? Thanks.

Angry ApploaderWebSL-Upgrade[1].msi

I have spent at least 8 hours trying to get my 8830/Verizon to sync. I was working fine and then suddenly it stopped working. The Verizon help desk suggestion that since I had already removed the Desktop Manager and reloaded it that it was likely do not a change in my system. I did upgrade McAfee last week and that seemed to correspond. I have disabled McAfee but I am completely stuck. I don't have the software for the olf Application Manager and when I try and open the upgrade or the Desktop manager I get the following errorr:
Windows Installer
The feature you are tyring to use is on a network that is unavailable

Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'ApploaderWebSL-Upgrade[1].mis

Can anyone help this non-techy????????
