I had to have a replacement Pearl 8120 delivered and forgot to back up my phone numbers.
Just before the collection time,in a blind panic I emailed them all to myself on my email address @blackberry.orange.co.uk.
I have tried logging in to my email from my pc on the blackberry.orange site but it won't take my login details.

Are they even stored anywhere anyway? Or are they only ever stored on your phone? (in which case I'm done).


Also in future is there a way to back up contacts to my sim or memorycard?
(I can't use the Blackberry desktop pc software at the moment).

Any advise please?

I would put a call into Orange and tell them you are having problems logging onto the BIS website to change your BB device. They should transfer you to RIM which should be able to get you onto the site. Once the device is changed then your email should arrive on your new device.

I am a little confused as to how you emailed your address book to yourself, if you can do it, I did not realize you could do that. Since I was clueless about that, I would have no idea how you would get them into your BB address book. I think your going to need a PC to get them onto your BB.

Your backup is DM, Outlook, ect. unless you are on a BES. In which case all your problems of device switching would be over with.

The only way to access that account is on the BB. No webmail or other option. You just found one of the main reasons not to use it! And you might have found the second, you can't take it with you when/if you switch carriers or when/if your carrier decides to mess with it.

If you set that account up in BIS, then you should be able to get the email. Don't forget to change the IMEI and PIN first or once RIM pushes it to a device, it's gone.
