So while I was away from home for about 4 hours last night my bb never checked my e-mail.

I thought this was odd but don't 'know how to force it to look when I assume (know) there is mail on the Earthlink server.

Got home and fired up the laptop.....plop...20 emails download to the machine.

Is there some way to make the BB go get mail?

You can't force it, as the BB does not "reach" out to grab mail, rather it is pushed to the device by the RIM servers.

Do you use Outlook on your home PC?

Sounds to me like the old "Leave Messages on Server" gotcha. As the preceding poster and link says, make sure it is checked in your email client, Outlook or other.

yeah, I know the BB gets the mail pushed to it but was just wondering if there was some more powerful "one shot pull" kind of thing.

No, my outlook is not set to keep mail on server as when I check the mail on my PC I want it gone from the server.

My problem is the PC is not even turned on and the mail is sitting on the server...yet the BB doesn't grab and forward to me.

It only happens once in a while so I will try the reset/reboot suggestion and see if that helps.

Try the reset/reboot. Sometimes your service books will be come corrupted.

Know this also, RIM pushing the email to your device will not clear them from your mail server; in other words, on BIS, once grabbed by the RIM servers and pushed to your device the same mail will still be pulled by Outlook to your PC. Now, IF you delete the mail from your BB and have it set to also "delete on mailbox" it will/should delete from the server and you will never see it in Outlook.

I have a BB curve. I have it it for a month or so and all of my hotmail messages had been going to it no problem. The other night it stopped working. I will check my computer and have e-mails but they do not appear on the BB. They sometime do but at a later time (i.e. I will check e-mail at 8am and then at like 9pm the BB says I have new e-mails which are the ones I already saw on my computer in the morning.
I have resent the service books several times, made sure I am connected to a network, re-registered. I am out of ideas, any thoughts??

Sdrazin, are you using the facebook app on your Curve? I have a Pearl 8120, and had this problem earlier in the week. It baffled t-mobile tech support, and someone else on this forum had the same problem. For me, deleting facebook kicked my e-mails back into life. It's a real annoyance tho, as I like the facebook app. I've e-mailed Blackberry but so far no response.
