(Moved from the Aftermarket section, here )
Hey,
Anyone out there know what kind of communication the aftermarket IM clients use vs the RIM ones?
Assuming that whatever service that allows PIN messaging to work is always working, I feel like it would make sense if RIM used some kind of behind-the-scenes PINs to enable their IM clients, as opposed to some kind of TCP connection that I imagine the third-party IM apps use...
Thoughts?
Am I assuming too much here, does anyone know the non-assumptive answers?
I'm wondering mostly to gauge which app(s) I should use to maximize my battery life, namely Jivetalk, or RIMs GoogleTalk and AIM...
Thanks!
