Well, I "Quit" the game on the game menu and don't leave it running in the background. Still, the battery drains.
I have a Texas Hold'em Poker game that I leave running in the background - instead of quitting, I hit the "end call" button and the game isn't exited. When I start the game again, it resumes at the last hand. I've had this game for over a year and have left it "suspended" but it doesn't drain the battery.
I uninstalled the "Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader?" game and am going to leave it unplugged and see if the battery drains.
