Default Blackberry Bold network-specific?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello All,

I have a customer who purchased a Blackberry Bold via E-Bay. The handset was once registered to the Rogers network (and has Rogers branding on the case), but has been unlocked - he is using an 02 sim card in it and has no problem with calls or texts.

The problem is how to register him with Blackberry Internet E-mail - if we go via the Rogers site and enter the IMEI, then we can register, but the settings never make it, because he's on 02. Trying the same thing via 02 won't work because the IMEI isn't registered with them.

Are we on a wild goose chase here, or can anything else be done?

Thanks in anticipation,

David.

Hi

First delete everything from the Rogers site.

Then set up the user via the email settings icon on the device, whilst here create a username and password which can be used on the o2 email set up website.

BlackBerry Search Results

If you have problems such as an error message which says 'an account has already been created....... ' then the device PIN will have to be released from Rogers either by contacting them directly or getting the previous user to contact them (this may well be you after using the Rogers website)

Wirelessly posted

I went through an identical thing switching out of AT&T into Rogers.after much time with ATT tech, they switched me to BlackBerry tech in Nova Scotia. The issue as stated is simple: the original carrier MUST release the PIN. After 10 mins with BB tech, all was resolved with no issues.

It needs to be set up with the carrier providing the BB data plan (same as any other model of BB). See the above PIN release prerequisite. I've never run into an "un-released PIN" but you won't be able to register a PIN with a carrier's BIS if it's already registered to another carrier's BIS. You're limited to one BIS account per BB.
