Default Password Keeper - migration

Please Login to Remove!

I am anxiously awaiting the release of the Bold here in the US. I currently keep all of my various passwords in the Password Keeper application on my 8700c. I currently operate in a corporate BES environment. When I get my new Bold and I do the enterprise activation to switch my account to the new machine, will the data in my Password Keeper be migrated to the Bold? I guess another way to ask this question is, "is Password Keeper" data maintained on our corporate BES servers like my contacts, etc.? Or will I need to manually transfer all of this information?

If the latter, has anyone figured out a way to electronically migrate the password keeper data?

Yes it will come over. Use either Switch Device or Backup/Restore.

As long as you are not removed from the BES prior to activating the new device, the PK data will migrate over. However, if your account is removed and re-added for any reason, the PK data will be lost.

Best to make a backup of the data from your current manually using Desktop Manager. That way, if the data is lost when the new device is set up, you can use an Advanced Restore to restore just the PK database (the BES Admin will need to turn off wireless sync for you on the BES for that to work, then after you restore they can turn wireless sync back on).

Thanks for the answers. I think the first response (x14) answers my last question: an electronic way to migrate the PK data if it is not stored on the BES server. The second response (juwaack68) answers my first question: is my PK data stored on my the BES server. Thanks guys. I do not intend to be removed from the BES. So hopefully it will transfer seemlessly, but I will do a back-up to my desktop just to be safe.

Nobody ever *plans* to be removed....but sometimes stuff happens and in order to activate a new device for a user, removal and readding is done.

Good luck! Hope that Bold comes sometime before Christmas

Default How to restore Password Keeper files

I do regular backups on my blackberry curve and wanted to restore select items on my new blackberry bold.

I noticed that I couldn't restore just the password keeper files, which was weird.

What I figured out is that I had wireless synchronization configured as YES on the Bold. When I changed it to NO and then tried to restore just the password keep files through the Advanced->Restore function of the desktop manager, i was able to restore!

THANK YOU reg23x!! I have been messing with this for hours and your tip to change the wireless synchronization configuration in PWK saved the day.

I have a similar question. I just got my curve today and I will be using the desktop manager to pass on the info. Will I need to manually enter all of my appointments in the new phone? I'm not on a BES network, its just my own personal phone.

Thanks
