I have been supporting Blackberry ( 8707v,8100- Pearl, 8310 Curve ,8800 and the new Bold devices. Work fine with the BES - everyone happy APART from 1 person. The organisation uses BB for what they are intended, email, calendar,Intranet/Internet, phone . However I have one guy who is out and about in the field and needs to be able to get documents off his standalone laptop and then send them off to folk. I cannot find anyway to do this! Am I missing something very straightforward with this. The new Bold has documents to go but the person in question has an 8310. I would appreciate some advise asap as his head of service is ringing me later to grill me

Load OS 4.5 on his Curve and he will get Documents to Go too

The new 4.5.0.81 OS will work on the 8310 curve and has docs to go...
He will need a media card. I don't think this will be a complete solution for you as you will have to have the documents he needs on his microsd card. (also a possible security issue depending on the sensitivity of the docs.)

You can policy sim cards now from the BES to force encryption on them or have the end user use the manual encryption to secure the card. The end user would need to attach his bb to the usb and use mass media to move his document to the media card and then attach the document to an email.

I've read the two other postings. I did not get that he was looking to read the files on his Blackberry. When I read you post I got "he would like to send the file from his laptop while in the field. If this is the case all you need to do is install your phone vendors version of Comm manager and use the BB as a tethered modem.
