Default BB Curve 8330 on Verizon - Questions

Please Login to Remove!

Does anyone know of any "got yas" on the BlackBerry Curve 8330 offered by Verizon? Also, I read that the 8330 Verizon offers doesn't support AIM and Yahoo however, you can download and install 3rd party AIM and Yahoo applications?

Also, how well does using an available wireless network instead of the phone service to send messages and voice work?

Thanks!
Mac

The best IM apps are the ones located on mobile.blackberry.com They use data so you will need a data plan, they work great and they intigrate right with the address book.

The GPS is locked down on Verizon's devices so that it will only work with Verizon's subscription services (i.e. VZ Navigator).

Verizon's 8330 doesn't include WiFi.

Ditto the GPS lock and missing WiFi.

Am praying someone finds or knows a "work around" to enable the GPS - it's a crime to disable a built-in feature!

I am cheap so I go for the free stuff. I have MSN Live messenger & Yahoo messenger both free through Blackberry. Yahoo also works with msn so you can stream line. I know the just unlocked some GPS featurs with BB maps if you upgrade to OS 4.5, have still not figured how to unlock wifi though.

I don't think the 8330 has Wi-Fi capability at all, the 8320 does though. There is nothing to unlock.

It's not really "missing" if it wasn't a feature in the first place.
