Default Hi hope you - 10-03-2008, 08:38 AM

Hi hope you can help I have a blackberry 8800 which came with a disc to download settings etc onto my computer which is running vista home premium.

Having entered everything from the disc when I plug my blackberry 8800 in it keeps coming up not connected.

But then goes into a mass storage device, I am trying to set up e-mail etc but nothing happens.

Do I need to update any drivers or other files as I am stuck at present.

The only thing I can do is send text and make and receive calls.

If I am doing something wrong then I hope someone is able to help me or have I been sold a blackberry that has a fault on it.

On e-mail side when I run the wizard it keeps asking me for a blackberry Enterprise Sever please I have no idea what I am being asked for.

Hope some one can help

Hi

When your blackberry tariff has been activated you will receive a browser icon and an email settings icon. From the email settings icon you can set up your email

The software on the cd is the Desktop manager, you use this for updating device software and loading applications etc not setting up email.

I would suggest two things.

First, download and install the latest desktop software. There have been numerous updates since those pre-loaded discs were created I am sure.

Once you have downloaded and installed the latest desktop software from RIM site give it a shot again and see if your device connects.

Was this phone previously owned by someone? A BES is a form of email called BlackBerry Enterprise Server and is usually only used by corporate BB owners. Casual email does not require a BES connection.

If this persists, you may have to do a system wipe and bring your device back to it's default configuration.

i got a massive error code on my BB 8820 which requires me to reload operating system. However I have a whole bunch of corporate garbage that is preventing this. I have tried JL Commander to wipe it but cant seem to get it to work on vista... I need to wipe this BB completely, get rid of the corportate encyrption and security rules.. Any Suggestions

If you can't run jl_cmdr on your Vista machine you'll need to find another. I don't see how the "corporate garbage" prevents you from reloading the BB's OS. Isn't Vista the problem?

Unless "corporate garbage" is refering to some type of lock down via group policy/etc.

You might want to refer to you company IT if this is their BlackBerry, or is this a personal BlackBerry?

For the first time I feel the future might hold something different for me. It's possible I'm fooling myself but I'm willing to take the risk.
