Unhappy Final Questions before going OS4.5

Please Login to Remove!

BB8310, tmobile, running OS4.2, desktop ver4.3, microcard is 8GB, have internet service.

Once I install OS 4.5 on my BB, how does it remember my phone number and that I have tmobile service and that I have internet service, is all tha on the simm card?? I don't mind upping to 4.5 if my phone automatically is ready to work as before.

So my question is, after I have OS4.5 on my BB, what else needs to done to get it working with tmobile and also be able to go onto the internet??? I assume I have to format the 8GB card, re set up the modem function, what else?

Please say nothing!!

You don't have to do anything.
Your phone number and wireless services are tied to the SIM card.

You don't need to reformat your microSD card either.
Not sure what 're-setup the modem' means, but you shouldn't have to do that either.

Hi...
Yes, I agree with the Penguin's previous post and you should be able to get through this. If you have any 3rd party apps, you may need to be aware that the process will backup the entire device and upgrade the os and then return your data. Sometimes you have to tweek your apps. There have been some issues with media cards and a format is not always required but sometimes you need to format the card as it can cause issues with your data. The folder hiarchy is a bit different as you now have folders for voicenotes etc. that were not there with 4.2. You may need to re-tether your modem setup.

Good luck and let us know how you doing...

H.

You may need to remove the media card and reformat it IF you get constant scanning of the media card, rebooting of the BB, or similar issues. Sometimes, those symptoms are signs the media card needs dealing with.

since OS4.2 only recognizes max 4GB micro card and 4.2 was when I formatted the microcard, I wondered if when on 4.5 which does recognize up to 8GBMC that I would have to format the MC again after install of 4.5

re-setup the modem,,, here I meant the phone it self, operating as a modem for my PC, I just got it set up with the help of the tmobile bb support tech and wondered if that had to be done over again after install,,

You don't need to update your Desktop Manager. If you update DM you will have to setup your modem settings again. Just install the 4.5 OS and update your device. You will need to reformat your card in order to see the 8Gb if you formatted it 4.2 and it dropped to 4Gb. I
