Default Dial into conference call - 10-06-2008, 08:04 AM

Hi,
I get meeting invitations to dial into a conference call. This is usually a 10 digit phone number, then a six digit number preceded and followed with a "*".

Is there a way to the BB to dial all the digits similar to the way it will dial a phone number then ask you to dial an extension?

Regards-Michael G.

I do it all the time.
Either just dial in and use the keypad (press the * key when appropriate - no shift or sym key - just the * key).
For recurring meetings, I set them up as a contact, with the pauses, * and # signs as appropriate. Works fine.

When you receive the meeting invites, you can edit the dial string to do all the work for you. Let's say 800-123-4567 is the call in number, and *123456* is the conf. number.

Edit the dial string so it looks like this:

800-123-4567 x*123456*

The BB will dial the 800 number, then a pop up screen will appear asking to dial the conf. number.

Better yet, tell the person who's sending them to you to send them out this way for BlackBerry friendly-ness.

Thanks that's just what I was looking for. I didn't have the "x" in the string and I guess that's why it wasn't working. Good tip about the invitations too.

NJBB - my brain is too soft to remember all the numbers. If I'm driving and dialing, it is even worse as the more I try to remember, the easier I forget. ;)

Sounds like CRS Disease. I have it. Can't Remember Sh*t. That's why I always keep my Blackberry close!
